Self portrait on the plane waiting for takeoff.

Ben wrote about what a fun experience we had at security in Phoenix. That was a great start to our vacation. Now I get to tell the rest of the story. There were heavy storms in NYC, so our flight was delayed by two hours. We got some yummy airport cafe food for breakfast (including cinnamon rolls, but not from Cinnabon, darn it!). Ben decided to download an update to his phone while we waited for the flight. About halfway through the download, our flight was given the go ahead to leave. Ben was the first to board because of his foot. So he had to stop the download and get on the plane. His blackberry lost all its software and was completely dead. We lost the darn lens cover for the camera while taking pictures, however, Ben got some beautiful pics of the clouds and aerial city views and the great lakes. We saw the movie "New in Town" with Rene Zellwegger. Cute movie. We were able to make seating arrangements to have the middle seat empty in our row, then Ben could prop his foot up. The flight turned out good overall. After we landed, there was a little golfcart taxi waiting to drive us to the baggage claim. Sweet! Then we waited about half an hour at the wrong pickup area for our hotel shuttle. That was very frustrating. Once we got to the right place, we were taken to the hotel right away. Our room was booked for one king bed weeks ago, but we got two full size beds. Oh well. There's just more room to spread out our stuff. We were too tired to go back out and figure out the transit system so we ordered in Chinese food. We are making big plans for tomorrow. Hopefully we can get in a good amount of sightseeing. And lots of great pictures!

The clouds are always spectacular when you're flying right up in them!
The view from our hotel room overlooks a beautiful courtyard.
